NATIONAL MINIMUM WAGE 1st January 2018

€9.55 is the legally enforceable minimum rate that applies to adult experienced workers with effect from 1 January 2018.

EMPLOYEE MINIMUM HOURLY RATE of PAY
Experienced adult worker €9.55 per working hour
Under age 18 €6.69 per working hour (70%)

*In the first year after the date of first employment over age 18, whether or not the employee changes employer during the year €7.64 per working hour (80%)

*In the second year after the date of €8.24 per working hour first employment over age 18, whether or not the employee changes employer during the year €8.60 per working hour (90%)

Trainees who are over 18 and attending a course of training or study prescribed by the Minister
(under Statutory Instrument 99/2000) undertaken during normal working hours
1st one third period €6.69 per working hour
2nd one third period €7.64 per working hour
3rd one third period €8.60 per working hour

N.B. Each one third period must be at least one month and no longer than twelve months.
